Scholarships and Tuition Reimbursement

Are you considering a career in substance abuse treatment in the City of Baltimore?  Scholarships and tuition reimbursement are available to human service, social work, psychology, counseling and nursing students.

·     State Nursing Scholarship and Living Expense Grant:  Open to Maryland residents who are active or prospective degree seeking nursing students.  Recipients are selected competitively based on GPA (3.00 needed to apply).  Awards up to $6,000 annually.  Recipients must commit to service obligation as a full-time nurse at an eligible organization in Baltimore.

·     Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Workforce Tuition Assistance Program:  Open to Maryland residents who are active or prospective degree seeking human service students.  Awards up to $2,000 annually.  Recipients must commit to service obligation to provide direct support or care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based program.

·     Janet L. Hoffman Loan Assistance Repayment Program (LARP):  Open to Maryland residents who work full-time for state or local government or non-profit agencies.  Nursing and Social Work are eligible employment fields.  Awards up to $7,500 per year.
 
·     Child Care Provider Scholarship Program:  Open to high school seniors or GED recipients, and degree-seeking undergraduates in Child Development or Early Childhood Education Program.  Awards up to $2,000 per year.  Recipients must commit to service obligation to provide child care services in Baltimore, one year for each year of the award.

·     Health Manpower Shortage Community College Programs:  The Maryland Higher Education Commission has designated certain Maryland public community college programs as Health Manpower Shortage Programs.  Students who are Maryland residents may attend a designated Health Manpower Shortage Program at any Maryland public community college in the state at in-county tuition and fees regardless of their county of residence.  Dundalk Community College’s addiction counseling program is part of this program.
